If stomach upset occurs, take with a meal. For prevention of malaria, take chloroquine exactly as directed by your doctor, usually once weekly on the same day each week. Start this medication usually 1 to 2 weeks before you enter the malaria area, and continue to take it during your stay and for 4 weeks after leaving the area, or as directed by your doctor.For treatment of a sudden/severe attack of malaria, take this medication as directed, usually 4 doses over 3 days. The first dose is larger and is followed by 3 smaller doses. Carbimazole is a medicine that is used to decrease the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland. Iodine is a chemical used by the thyroid gland in the formation of thyroid hormones. Iodine must be converted in the body to a useable form before it may be combined with other components to form thyroid hormones. Carbimazole acts to prevent the conversion of iodine to its useable form. Carbimazole also acts to block the combination of converted iodine with other components to form thyroid hormones. This results in a decreased production of thyroid hormones. Therefore, carbimazole is useful in the treatment of conditions where excessive amounts of thyroid hormones are being produced by the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism). As carbimazole can only decrease the production of thyroid hormones after it is taken, it cannot immediately decrease the blood levels of previously produced thyroid hormones. Previously produced thyroid hormones must be used up by the body before the thyroid hormone blood levels may begin to decrease. This can take three to four weeks.What is it used for? The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, including infections of the ears, lungs, sinus, skin, and urinary tract. Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clavulanic acid is in a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying amoxicillin. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid comes as a tablet, a chewable tablet, and a suspension (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken with a meal or a snack every 8 hours (three times a day) or every 12 hours (twice a day). To help you remember to take amoxicillin and clavulanate, take it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take amoxicillin and clavulanic acid exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Shake the liquid well before each use to mix the medication evenly.The chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before they are swallowed. The other tablets should be taken with a full glass of water.The 250 mg and 500 mg tablets of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid contain the same amount of clavulanic acid. Do not substitute two 250 mg tablets for one 500 mg tablet. The 250 mg regular tablet and the 250 mg chewable tablet contain different amounts of clavulanic acid. However, taking atomoxetine with food may help prevent the medication from upsetting your stomach. Take atomoxetine at around the same time(s) every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take atomoxetine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Swallow atomoxetine capsules whole; do not open, chew, or crush them. If a capsule is accidentally broken or opened, wash away the loose powder with water right away. Try not to touch the powder and be especially careful not to get the powder in your eyes. If you do get powder in your eyes, rinse them with water right away and call your doctor.Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of atomoxetine and increase your dose after at least 3 days. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.Cetirizine comes as a tablet, a chewable tablet, and a syrup (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Take cetirizine at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your package label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take cetirizine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than directed on the package label or as recommended by your doctor.Do not use cetirizine to treat hives that are bruised or blistered, that are an unusual color, or that do not itch. Call your doctor if you have these types of hives.Stop taking cetirizine and call your doctor if your hives do not improve during the first 3 days of your treatment or if your hives last longer than 6 weeks. If you do not know the cause of your hives, call your doctor.If you are taking cetirizine to treat hives, and you develop any of the following symptoms, get emergency medical help right away: difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing; swelling in and around the mouth or swelling of the tongue; wheezing; drooling; dizziness; or loss of consciousness. These may be symptoms of a life-threatening allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. If your doctor suspects that you may experience anaphylaxis with your hives, he may prescribe an epinephrine injector (EpiPen). Do not use cetirizine in place of the epinephrine injector.
